Keeping oneself safe from passwords and data breaches has become a challenge in an age where everything is digital and the world operates on passwords. Every day, we hear about accounts that have been compromised in some manner. Everyone suggests using a complex, difficult-to-remember password as a solution, but this is ineffective, particularly if you are forgetful. Well, there is another solution that may not require remembering anything. 2FA, or Two Factor Authentication, allows you to securely log into your accounts.
If 2FA is enabled using a phone number, you will be required to input a code sent to your phone number each time you attempt to log into your account. You cannot access your account without verifying the code. Authenticator programs that produce 2FA codes can also be used to enable 2FA.
This guide will teach you how to utilize 2FA with Twitter. TechEngage has already provided a comprehensive overview of how Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) operates.
Follow the steps below to enable 2FA on Twitter:
Launch the Twitter app or navigate to twitter.com in your web browser.
Find and select "More" on Twitter's left sidebar.
Now, click the 'Settings and privacy' link.
Go to 'Security and account access' and then select 'Security.'
Clicking the 'Two-factor authentication' option will now open the 2FA preferences.
Select any one of the three listed 2FA methods that you prefer.
Add your phone number and enable 2FA, and you're all set.
This allows you to enable 2FA on your Twitter account. Now, whenever you attempt to log into your Twitter account, a verification code will be sent to your phone number, which you will need to enter before logging in.
This way, even if your password is compromised, it cannot be used to access your account.
It is imperative to remember that the codes that Twitter provides after 2FA activation MUST be stored in a secure location. If you lose your phone or access to the Authenticator app, only these codes will allow you to regain access to your Twitter account.
